One of the greatest food inventions of all time. Certainly for all of us who love the taste of a great beef burger the added melting cheddar cheese is as near to heaven you can taste on earth

Ahh! the pleasure you get from cooking your own beef cheese burgers on your own BBQ, having a meal in the open air with your own family or friends, you forget quickly your frustration of trying to get the coals to burn and when eventually you did get a fire going, the smoke that got in your eyes as the tears ran down your grimy face making those wet and clear canals of water through the soot-ed face.

But if yours is a posh gas BBQ you will not remember the day when it would not ignite and as a last resort you tried the matches then whoosh and you were left minus your eyebrows on your grimy face

Looking back it was a pleasure to make your own food, preparing the meat to make your beef burgers have developed just then your own secret recipe,cooking on the BBQ whist having a slurp or two of something just to clear the cooking heat from your throat.

Char Grilled Beef Burgers with Cheddar.

The great taste of beef cheese burger char grilled with all those smoky cooking flavours is best enjoyed outside with an open air BBQ.

1 kilo or a large pack of lean mince.

1 egg.

2 slices of dried bread( try toasting it 2 slices on a low heat until it is dry then crush it as fine as you can.

1 tbsp of dried mixed herbs.

Salt and black pepper to season to taste.

1 cup of grated cheddar.

Method

Crack the egg over the meat sprinkle on the bread crumbs.

Mix together,all the ingredients( but nor the cheese) gently so as not to form any lumps.

Form into 8/10 equal amounts and press flat into burger shape, but not to thick.

Place plenty of cheese onto your burger shape and cook the best tasting beef cheese burger.

You can take 2 burgers with cheese on and press together cheese on cheese pressing the edges of the burgers together to seal in the cheese completely.

Then cook them as one burger with the cheese melting inside this takes longer to cook( 6 to 9 minutes) you can check by sticking a knife into it if the cheese has melted you will see it on the knife.

The better way is to cook both burgers,then add the cheese,stack one on top of the cheese and cook them for another 2 mins,you can also put in a couple of slices of tomato but watch out when you bite into them the cheese and tomato are very hot.

Remember be careful when you bite into them as the cheese will be very hot.
