Easy Turkey Recipes

There are many turkey Recipes and many are complicated recipes made up by many chefs,but the simple ones always remain the favorites.

The Turkey Ingredients

4.5kg/10lb oven ready turkey crown, (completely thawed).

1 onion, peeled and cut into 8 wedges cooking timescale 3hours.

A Small bunch fresh parsley.

6 garlic bulbs peeled but whole.

FOR THE BUTTER to go under the Turkey skin prepare the following.

75g/3oz softened butter.

2 large garlic cloves, peeled and crushed.

2 tbsp freshly chopped parsley.

FOR A GARNISH.

Handful of fresh leaf parsley and the lemon wedges to garnish.

To Serve with Freshly Cooked Vegetables

Crispy roast potatoes, roasted quarters of parsnips and freshly.

Cooked sprouts mashed carrots and squash and any other freshly cooked vegetables.

Method for our easy Turkey Recipes directions

Preheat the oven to 190ºC/375ºF/Gas Mark 5, 10 minutes before cooking.

Lightly wipe down the turkey with damp kitchen papers and the discard.

Weigh the turkey crown and calculate the cooking time you require.

Mix well the butter until very soft then add the crushed garlic and chopped parsley. Mix well well until completely blended.

With your fingers, lift the skin away from the flesh of the turkey crown carefully,then inset your fingers easing the skin away from the bird.

Do this a little at a time on each side until patches of the skin are free.

Once there is a gap between the flesh and skin free, gently smear the flavoured butter over the flesh then re-cover with the skin and secure the neck flap with either sewing with fine twine and a trussing needle or skewers.

Place the bird upside down in the roasting tin and place the onion, garlic bulbs and parsley in the open body cavity then cover with kitchen foil for cooking in the oven .

To calculate cooking time allow 20 minutes per kg plus 90 minutes.

Turn the the turkey the correct way up right way up for 60 minutes before the end of cooking time,take off the cooking foil 30 minutes before completing the cooking to allow the top and breast area to crisp up.

(Try to keep the temperature constant and avoid opening the oven often during cooking).

Test to check cooking has been completed piercing the thickest part of the bird with a long knife blade or skewer a clean knitting needle will do.

If the juices run clear, it is ready, if the juices are a little pink then return to the oven and cook a little longer.

Once cooked empty all the juices including those remaining in the bird remove for the basis of your gravy /sauce.

Place the turkey on the platter preferably with ridges to collect juices for your gravy you always need more.

Then re- cover with tinfoil and cover with a clean towel and leave for at least 20 minutes to cool. this will make it far easier to carve.

Place the turkey on the serving platter and arrange your freshly cooked vegetables around as garnish ready for you to serve.Like most great meals the beat Turkey Recipes are the simplest like this great tasting meal.
