Ingredients for Brisket Slow Cooked:
11/2 kilo. beef brisket,(deep scored).
6 tbsp olive oil.
3 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped.
6 medium carrots, sliced.
3 medium onions, sliced.
4 sticks celery chopped roughly.
1 bay leaf.
1 pint of beef stock.
6 cloves garlic, minced.
2 tbsp. Worcester sauce.
1/2 tbsp mixed herbs.
1/2tbsp. brown sugar.
1/2 tsp. salt.
1/2 tsp. fresh ground black pepper.
3 onions, thickly chopped.
2tsp of flour.(optional).
Directions Brisket Slow Cooked recipe:
Place 3 tbsp. of olive oil into the slow cooker and heat to hot before carefully adding the brisket and cover until required.
Add the remaining olive oil to the heated cooker carefully the add the chopped onions and potatoes into bottom of slow cooker then stir with a wooden spatula a until lightly brown.
Mix in the remaining vegetables, then place brisket, fat side up, on top of vegetables.
Sprinkle over the meat first the garlic along with the salt and pepper top.
Over the meat brush the Worcester sauce before sprinkling on the sugar and then herbs onto the meat, then rub into beef gently.
Add the beef stock carefully down the side of the cooker so as not to disturb the coatings on the meat.
Add the bay leaf put the top on the crockpot and cook on low 9-10 hours.
With 1/2 to 1 hour an hour before serving, check the liquid in the cooker,if you prefer more gravy add and mix in a little more water and if you prefer thicker gravy and stir in the 2 tbsp of flour before returning the cover and cook for the remaining cooking time.
Before serving, remove brisket from the slow cooker to place on a serving plate,and cover to keep hot with 2 layers of tightly fitted foil until you are ready to serve.
Remove any surplus fat from the pot that may have risen to the top of your gravy.
Warm crusty bread or rolls add final touch if you wish to help with that extra rich tasty gravy.
Serve a portion of your brisket and arrange the vegetable and gravy around the meat garnish with a little of any available freshly chopped green herbs.
