If I could achieve one small thing and can see that success however small the success that believed would build the confidence to try to achieve further small success.
When I quit smoking many years ago because I knew it would cause me health problems and I needed to stop. The only way I could do it was perhaps strange for many but it worked for me.
The principle was as follows, as a smoker the worst thing for me was to be without cigarettes.This made me desperate to get some as quick as possible however once I had some I was fine I could ration myself to a quantity each day.

With a pack in my pocket I was not desperate for a smoke. I worked out that if I had some I would take one put it in my mouth but I would not light it because if I did I would lying to myself and cheating myself. That would tell me I was a pretty weak person and that was not the person I intended to be. A person that lies and cheats himself has got to be someone who did not deserve a great wife and family that I have. So lighting a cigarette would be letting my family down as well as myself.
In the first two weeks I failed a couple of times and I did have lots of times when I was desperate for a smoke and put a cigarette in my mouth but I would not light it. After the first month the the urges became less and less after three I didn’t smoke anymore.
The Principle Of Taking Small Steps To Win
The principle I referred to, is to lower blood sugar level and reverse diabetes by taking very small achievable steps at a time. When you take any physical activity very slowly your body will get used to a small reduction will not react negatively.
What does that mean! Well If you decide suddenly to go on a diet reducing the amount of food you eat. First cut out all sugar food,sugary drinks, cookies and sweet confectionery your body will react and tell you your hungry. Likewise if you suddenly decide to dig up your garden or do any sudden activity WITHOUT PREPARATION your body will react negatively and you’ll get pain and aches because of that activity without preparation.
The First Stage is Preparation in Diabetes Self Management
The preparation and planning are simple plan to make small gains. Take any changes it slowly, get used to a any slight changes whether its in the types of food you eat or the quantity of certain foods you eat.
Prepare what and how you can achieve the changes to a better way of eating. Check and food read labels and check the contents unhealthy additives, coloring’s and flavoring you don’t want in your healthier eating regime.
With Type 2 diabetes my first small success was cutting down to half a teaspoon of granulated sugar in my hot drinks in my first two weeks. After a month I didn’t even think of putting spoons full of sugar in my drinks that was my first big success and I knew I could do more.

The next stage of the preparation was to cut out all sugary foods and drinks item by item, no cookies or food that contained sugar slowly. This stage can take as long as you need maybe up to six months. But by the you should see the surplus weight dropping off as you change what you eat.

A Chicken Casserole.
With Tomato Mushroom just a little Red Wine for the jus / gravy.

This Easy Slow Cooking to extracts all the flavours from the chicken and vegetables to merge and make this wonderful tasty meal you will be proud to serve.
1 tsp olive oil.
8 chicken legs.
1 onion, chopped.
2 garlic cloves, crushed.
100g mixed dried mushrooms. or 200g of any fresh mushrooms.
225ml red wine.
1x 400gram tin chopped tomatoes.
2 tbsp tomato puree.
3 thyme of sprigs.
500ml of chicken stock.
Salt and fresh ground black pepper.
Direction for cooking this chicken casserole.
Heat the oil and half the butter in a large lidded casserole.
Cut the chicken in 8 pieces, season with salt and pepper.
Fry the Chicken pieces in the open casserole dish turning them for about 6/8 minutes until they are golden brown.
Take out the Chicken pieces and set them on a plate on one side.
1. Put the rest of the butter into the empty casserole dish and. add the onion, fry them for about 4/ 5 mins until turning brown and soft.
2. Add garlic in, cook for a further about 1 min, before adding the mushrooms, then the red wine and the chopped tomatoes.
3. Stir in the tomato puree, and pour over the chicken stock.
4. Bring the contents to the boil and stir gently for 2 minutes.
5. Add the 8 Chicken pieces into the pan, add in the thyme, then cover the casserole dish with its secure lid,then simmer on a low heat for about 1 hr stirring occasionally until the chicken is very tender.
6. Remove the chicken from the pan and keep it hot.
7. Bring the contents to boil down the sauce for 12 mins or so until it has been reduced and the flavour is more concentrated.
8. Put the chicken legs back into the sauce and serve.
For 4 persons.
