Slowcooker Chicken Soups

This Easy 3 x 5 minute delicious slowcooker chicken soups recipe needs only 5 minutes to prepare you can do it all before you go to bed.

Another 5 minutes next morning before you set out on another busy day knowing when you return tired and weary within another 5 minutes you will have ready a delicious full of nourishment meal to be proud of and you can freeze in portions what you don’t need and then you have more great comforting meals that can last for days.

This Slowcooking chicken soup is more solid meal than liquid meal,the meat and vegetables are there to chew on help in the gastric fluids to digest the proteins more slow over a longer period of time to keep your energy level more constant avoiding high peaks a troughs which create in your feelings of well being.

This is one of the most delicious and one of the simplest recipe,a comforting and nourishing meal, that will keep your tummy full in these toughest of economic times when money is scarce.

When the question of how to balance your finances,food and nourishment is always a priority and one answer use a slow cooker more.

Simple steps,coupled with a selection of good quality ingredients and a slow cooker simmering and bubbling away during the day or during the night when your asleep ensures that you can always have cheap,affordable healthy food readily available without having to spend extra hours and a lot more time in the kitchen.

When we were children arriving home in the winter cold and sometimes wet,that wonderful kitchen aroma that welcomed us and that a bowl of hot steaming soup is one of my fondest memories For me, slowcooker chicken soup is the answer.

1 whole chicken between (3& 4 lbs).
1tsp sea salt, as needed.
2 tsp fresh ground black pepper.
4 leeks, chopped in chunks.
6 celery sticks, sliced chopped thick.
2 bay leafs.
1 large onion, peeled and chopped fine.
8 carrots, scraped and sliced into thin rounds.
1/2tsp salt, as needed.
1 tsp fresh ground black pepper.
1 tsp mixed dried herbs.
2 chicken stock cubes crushed melted in a pint of hot water.
1 lb potatoes, peeled and chopped into bite-sized pieces.
1/4 cup minced fresh parsley.

Directions for Slowcooker Chicken Soup:

  1. Wash the chicken, inside and out, we run the water under pressure into the chicken first then pat the outside dry.
  2. Place the whole chicken inside the crockpot or slow cooker/cooker, you can cut off the legs and wings to get more space.
  3. Mix all the vegetables in a bowl first before adding around the chicken in the cooker.
  4. Add the bay leaf, sprinkle over the mixed herbs mix. 5 Pour over the chicken stock.
  5. Sprinkle over the salt a pepper.
  6. Cover the chicken with water, no more than ¾ full.
  7. Cook on low overnight 8 to 10 hours on a low constant heat.
  8. Remove the lid carefully set aside and mix the ingredients 10 Check the liquid level and top up as required.
  9. Replace the cooker lid and continue to cook for a further 8 hours.
  10. Take out the chicken and strip away all the meat carefully from all the bones then discard the bones.
  11. Return the meat to the soup add the parsley ready to serve.

We prefer to serve this soup meal with fresh crusty bread rolls
